Woman's body found in Kavango River

WINDHOEK, 18 MAY (NAMPA) – The decomposed body of a woman was found floating in the Kavango River at Kayiri village near Nkurenkuru on Wednesday.
In the daily crime report issued on Thursday, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said the unidentified body was discovered at 14h05 and is being kept at the Nankudu State Mortuary.
The deceased’s next of kin have not yet been informed and an inquest was registered at the Nkurenkuru Police Station for police investigation.
In the Erongo Region, the police reported the discovery of a decomposed body in a flat in Swakopmund.
The body of an 81-year-old man was discovered at Marlene Court at around 15h00 on Wednesday.
Neighbours had alerted the police about a foul smell coming from the flat.
The deceased lived alone and neighbours said the last time they saw him was three weeks ago.
The body was taken to the Walvis Bay Police Mortuary.
Kanguatjivi said no foul play is suspected.
