WINDHOEK, 18 MAY (NAMPA) - The 17th Old Mutual Victory Race Series was officially launched in Windhoek on Thursday.
Speaking at the launch, Old Mutual Marketing, Transformation and Customer Executive, Ndangi Katoma said an investment of N.dollars 1 million has been made in this year's series.
This years victory race series will once again accord athletes from all over the country an opportunity to show off their exceptional running abilities in the four major centres of our country, he said.
An investment of N.dollars 12 000 has also been made for study bursaries for two learners, who will each walk away with the amount at the end of the victory race.
Katoma added that Old Mutual has over the past 16 years contributed positively towards the annual road running event and will continue doing that going forward.
Our commitment has not only made it possible for thousands of Namibians to enjoy the sheer exhilaration of running in a beautiful country, but it has also made it possible for Namibian athletes to compete outside the country, especially at the Two Oceans Marathon in South Africa where the male and female winner will have an all-expenses paid trip by Old Mutual Namibia to participate at the event, he said.
He said Coca-Cola Namibia bottling company, which is partnering with Old Mutual for the 11th time, has contributed soft drinks and promotional items valued at N.dollars 40 000, while Business Connexion funded two laptops to the value of N.dollars 18 000 which will be allocated to the school with the highest numbers of entries of disabled athletes in Oshakati and Keetmanshoop.
The four major races will take place in Oshakati; Swakopmund; Keetmanshoop and Windhoek.
Entry forms will be available on the Old Mutual website and at schools.
The due date for entries will be the day before each race, and no entries will be accepted on the day of the race.
