ONGWEDIVA, 06 MAY (NAMPA) - The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and German Chamber of Crafts (GCC) in the Frankfurt Region on Friday signed a skills development agreement.
A media statement issued by the NCCI on Friday said the agreement will help to develop skills for Namibian enterprises in the panel beating and spray painting industry.
The three-year agreement is aimed at aligning the skills of graduates from vocational training institutions in the Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Oshana and Omusati regions to the needs and demands of the industry.
“It is expected to cover the four northern regions plus Windhoek, while other regions will be covered once the pilot phase is completed successfully,” the statement said.
Seventy-five trainees are expected to receive training this year, while during the remaining two years (2018 and 2019) about 120 more trainees will receive training.
While the project will focus primarily on panel beating and spray painting in the first year of implementation, other sectors will be considered in the two remaining years.
Experts from Germany will work with local experts, with funding provided by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
The project will be based at Eenhana in Ohangwena Region and will be executed in close collaboration with the Eenhana Vocational Training Centre.
