Two people die in accident outside Otjiwarongo

OTJIWARONGO, 02 MAY (NAMPA) - Two people died instantly Monday evening after a double-cab pick-up vehicle they were travelling in overturned about 9 kilometres north-west of Otjiwarongo.
A 27-year-old man who was driving the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital on Monday evening.
The two deceased persons have been identified as Helvi Namupala Iipinge, 27, who was a member of the Air Force at the Karibib Air Force Base, and 26-year-old Ndakewongo Pameni Lameck Simon.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Tuesday told Nampa that the close relatives of the two deceased persons have been informed.
Mbeha said the accident occurred at about 18h00.
The vehicle overturned [and rolled] five times on the gravel road between Otjiwarongo and the Queen Sofia Government Resettlement Farm, she said.
A case of culpable homicide was opened at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.
