Court postpones abortion case bail hearing

ONDANGWA, 01 MAY (NAMPA) –The bail hearing of one of two women implicated in the death of 28-year-old Jahiteeri Nuujoma after an alleged illegal abortion was postponed to 20 June to allow further investigations.
The accused, Ndinelao Mathilde Matheus, has been in police custody since March. She is accused of attempting to assist Nuujoma to terminate her pregnancy.
Matheus made her second appearance in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Friday, on charges of inducing an abortion and murder.
Police records state that Matheus, with the assistance of an unknown accomplice, reportedly gave the deceased a mixture of medications for which she was asked to pay N.dollars 1 500.
The deceased was then left at the accused’s home in the Okuryangava settlement while they went out.
Matheus, appeared before Magistrate Peter Nangula while Prosecutor Ester Embanga represented the state.
