Man allegedly stabs girlfriend dead at Otavi

OTJIWARONGO, 01 MAY (NAMPA) – A 28-year-old woman died after she was allegedly stabbed by her boyfriend at Otavi Sunday evening.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naukalemo Andreas identified the woman as Rencia Hoakhaos.
He next of kin have been informed.
Andreas said Hoakhaos died at the Otavi Clinic where she was taken shortly after the incident that evening at about 20H00.
According to Andreas, Hoakhaos and her boyfriend allegedly had a heated quarrel at their house in Otavi when the alleged stabbing happened.
“It is alleged the boyfriend, who is now the suspect, pulled out a knife and stabbed her on a body part to be determined by the post-mortem,” she said adding it will also determine the number of times the deceased was stabbed.
Andreas said it is unclear what the two were quarrelling about.
The suspect, who is known to the police, fled the scene after the incident and has not been arrested yet.
A case of murder was opened at Otavi Police Station.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
