WINDHOEK, 28 APR (NAMPA) - The City of Windhoek Council has approved the sale of 180 unimproved single residential plots in Khomasdal Extension 16.
The approval was made at the City’s special council meeting held here on Monday.
City of Windhoek (CoW) Public Relation Officer, Lydia Amutenya told the media during a briefing on Friday the council approved the allocation of 100 plots to the youth (people between 16 and 35 years), while the remaining 80 will be sold to staff members of the City of Windhoek.
She said the sale of the erven was approved last year by the Council.
Amutenya acknowledged public discontent with the lengthy process involved in the approval of the sales.
“The delay in concluding this transaction is attributed to the extension of the submission of the Offer to Purchase which was extended to 31 October 2016, as opposed to the initial due date of 21 October 2016,” Amutenya explained.
She added that the extension was announced through a notice in the media on 22 March this year.
A total of 4 421 offers were received, but only 1 573 offers met the Offer to Purchase requirements.
