OTJIWARONGO, 21 APR (NAMPA) - Preparations are in full swing for the Swapo party’s 57th birthday celebrations at Otjiwarongo on Saturday.
The event will take place at the Mokati Sports Stadium, with gates set to open at 08h00.
The party’s Otjozondjupa Regional Co-ordinator, Susan Hikopua on Thursday told Nampa that arrangements for the venue, public transport and cultural activities amongst others have been made by the regional party leadership at Otjiwarongo.
“We are well prepared for the main event on Saturday and all needed activities have been made,” she said.
President Hage Geingob is expected to deliver a message at the event.
She called on the general public to join the street march planned for Friday. It will start at 15h00 at the DRC Soccer Field and end at the Swapo regional office in town.
She said transport will be provided in the seven constituencies of the region.
On Thursday, two local businesspeople - Madume Kawana and Toivo Kapuka Nuugulu - donated more than 50 cases of soft drinks at a cost over N.dollars 10 000 to the event.
Swapo was founded on 19 April 1960 as a political movement.
