WINDHOEK, 20 APR (NAMPA) – The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation has congratulated Ebba Kalondo on her appointment as African Union (AU) spokesperson and boxer Julius Indongo on his victory in Scotland against Ricky Burns.
The ministry commended the two Namibians in a media statement issued by the office of the Permanent Secretary on Wednesday.
“Kalondo have joined a group of other Namibians who are currently serving at various regional and international organisations at senior level, and by so doing raising the profile of our country,” reads the statement.
Prior to her appointment, Kalondo served as Emergency Communications Officer for the African Regional Office of the World Health Organisation.
Indongo was victorious in the super lightweight unification fight against Burns in Glasgow, Scotland recently. He is the first Namibian to hold three world boxing titles at the same time.
“His achievement is a motivation for other young Namibians to use and develop their talents to reach greater heights and raise the profile of Namibia,” says the statement.
