Three die in accidents on Monday

WINDHOEK, 19 APR (NAMPA) – A six-year-old girl died on her way to hospital after she was run over by a vehicle at the Onaanda village in the Omusati Region on Monday.
The accident occurred at around 15h00, said Head of the Namibian Police Force Public Relations Division, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi in the daily crime report issued on Wednesday.
Johanna Ekandjo was playing on the gravel road with other children when she was run over.
Her next of kin have been informed.
No one has been arrested in connection with the accident yet and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old woman died in an accident at Kanyikama village near Rundu in the Kavango East Region on Monday at about 18h19.
The deceased, identified as Ngonyofi Shiwa-Omwenyo Namwandi, reportedly lost control of her vehicle and drove into trees near the road before the vehicle overturned.
Namwandi succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the Nkurenkuru Hospital.
Her next of kin have been informed.
In another accident on Monday, a 45-year-old man died on the spot in an accident three kilometres outside Grootfontein at around 17h30.
Mariablon Ferdinand Nafele lost control over his vehicle, causing it to overturn.
His next of kin have been informed.
The police also reported an accident six kilometres outside Rehoboth on Monday.
An eight-year-old girl sustained serious injuries in the accident after the driver of the car she was an occupant in lost control over the vehicle at around 12h40.
The driver allegedly overtook a truck in a reckless manner, causing the car to overturn.
The driver and five other passengers sustained slight injuries and are reported to be in a stable condition.
