CoW employee commits suicide

OSHAKATI, 19 APR (NAMPA) - A man was found hanging dead from a tree on Tuesday in the Tsintsabis area of the Oshikoto Region.
Oshikoto Region Deputy Crime Investigations Coordinator, Chief Inspector Edna Nawa told the media in a police report on Wednesday morning the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Lazarus Shapange.
He was employed at the City of Windhoek (CoW).
The report states that Shapange’s body was found near his Land Cruiser about 10 kilometres from the Bravo Gate at approximately 07h30.
“When police officers investigated the abandoned vehicle, they found the deceased's body hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck,” Nawa added.
It is alleged the deceased was travelling back to Windhoek from Ohangwena, where he had gone for the Easter weekend.
No suicide note was found and no foul play is suspected.
His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
