REHOBOTH, 19 APR (NAMPA) The Rehoboth Community Trust (RCT) will host the Reho Expo under the theme The Gathering from 28 to 29 April at Kameeldoring, some seven kilometres south of Rehoboth.
RCT Executive Chairperson, Ronald Kubas told Nampa on Tuesday the aim of the expo is to involve the community in the trusts projects and also provide a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products, especially those in the agricultural sector.
It is also a chance for them to sell their home made stuff, products and animals, Kubas noted.
Amongst the activities lined up are horse racing over 1 000 metres (m), 1 400m and 2 000m, a singing competition, cattle and small livestock exhibition.
For the sports fanatics, a volleyball tournament and PlayStation competition are part of the festivities.
Kubas said for this year, only horses from within the country are allowed to take part in the races.
We aim to make this an annual event for our town and believe it will grow in leaps and bounds, Kubas remarked.
He urged all residents in and around Rehoboth to be part of the festivities.
There will be a gala dinner on 28 April, and proceeds will go towards funding social programmes such as pension feeding schemes, bursaries, and employment creation.
The RCT was established in 2003 to work towards developing communities.
Last year, it donated gardening equipment to the Vooruitsig Combined School in Rehoboth for their gardening project and four wheelchairs to residents in need.
Since 2006, the RCT has been assisting students within the Hardap Region with bursaries to study further, especially in the fields of science.
So far, the trust has helped over 30 students.
