Man drowns in Lake Guinas

OSHAKATI, 18 APR (NAMPA) – A 22-year-old man drowned in Lake Guinas in Tsumeb on Monday morning.
The incident happened at around 10h00 while the deceased and his friends were swimming.
He has been identified as Jeremia Kaminongua, a resident of Otjiwarongo.
Oshikoto Region deputy crime investigations coordinator, Chief Inspector Edna Nawa said in a police report on Monday, Kaminongua allegedly disappeared under water and could not be found by his friends.
A rescue team, which was informed of the incident, could not make it to the lake on the same day as they were driving from a different region.
The lake is located 51 kilometres west of Tsumeb.
Kaminongua's body was recovered on Tuesday morning.
He was employed as a farmworker at Cando Farming Guinas outside Tsumeb.
His next of kin have been informed.
