KEETMANSHOOP, 17 APR (NAMPA) – Hollard Namibia has donated furniture worth N.dollars 125 000 to the Career Assessment and Mentorship Programme (CAMP) based at Bethanie in the //Kharas Region.
CAMP is an initiative by a former learner and resident of the village, Sidney Boois, now a senior manager at the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund.
The insurance company donated book shelves, computer stands and a fully-equipped kitchenette to the out-of-school programme currently housed in the Bethanie Community Hall.
Boois started the programme a few years back to motivate senior school learners in the area to take education seriously.
The programme prepares learners for tertiary education through career guidance, after-school lessons and life skills programmes.
It also offers training programmes for educators.
Hollard said in a media statement on Tuesday that the purpose of the donation was to assist CAMP in developing support structures that will add value to the learning process.
Boois on Saturday accompanied Minister of Education, Arts and Culture Katrina Hanse-Himarwa through the upgraded facility, and also assessed the impact of the initiative in the local community.
