SPYL hosts Youth Afternoon Dialogue

WINDHOEK, 21 OCT (NAMPA) - The Swapo-Party Youth League (SPYL)’s Windhoek West District held a ‘Youth Afternoon Dialogue’ under the theme ‘Engineering Economic Growth’ here on Saturday.
The event was aimed at scrutinising issues and challenges which are currently, or may, negatively affect the youth and to further suggest possible solutions that may positively contribute to the economy.
The Information, Publicity and Mobilisation Chairperson of the Windhoek West District’s Organising Committee, Magongo Iipinge said in the media invitation issued to Nampa on Saturday the event was also aimed at “bringing together various youths from all walks of life in order to strengthen the bond of the youth within the Swapo-Party”.
The event featured prominent business people on its panel of guests such as Managing Director at Stimulus Private Equity Monica Kalondo, Executive Director of Moola Mobile, Martin Shipanga as well as Petroleum Commissioner in the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Immanuel Mulunga.
Discussions during the dialogue centred around the role of equity financing and investment in engineering economic growth and entrepreneurship and the role of innovation and Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in the economy.
Other topics included the impact of housing on the economy and access to financing of affordable housing, as well as energy and the prospects of commercial viable crude oil in Namibia.
A summary on the outcome of the dialogue will be made available to the media on Tuesday.
