||Karas Region ready for Newspaper Cup

SWAKOPMUND, 14 APR (NAMPA) – The ||Karas Region’s under 20 football team says they are ready for the 2017 Namibia Newspaper Cup that kicked off Friday at Vineta Sports Stadium in Swakopmund.
Speaking to Nampa upon arrival in Swakopmund late Thursday, Coach Gabriel Jacobs said his players are familiar with the football fiesta.
“This is the second year in a row that we are in a group with only three teams. It is also the second year running that we face Ohangwena again,” he said while his team did a pitch inspection.
Jacobs said they feltl at home in the coastal town because the weather patterns are similar to where they come from.
Team Captain, Michael Mettler said, while their objective is to win the cup, they will take it one game at a time.
“Morale is high in our camp and we believe we will have a great tournament. We need to win the first game to boost our morale,” he said.
||Karas finished twice as runners up in the tournament but never won.
This is the 17th edition of the Namibia Newspaper Cup that will see Oshana attempt to defend their title won in Rundu, Kavango East last year.
