SWAKOPMUND, 25 May 2013 (NAMPA) - Five people died in a crash involving two vehicles on the main road between Swakopmund and Arandis in the Erongo Region early Saturday morning.
According to Chief Inspector George Xoagub of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), the accident happened at around 02h45.
Paramedics who spoke to Nampa in a telephonic interview on Saturday said four of the deceased persons were travelling in a sedan which crashed into a light delivery van.
At least three other people were injured and rushed to a hospital in Swakopmund.
Although the cause of the accident is still unclear, the paramedics said they suspect that dense fog and dangerous driving might have had a hand in the crash.
The names of the deceased will be released to the media once their relatives have been informed about the tragic accident. The accident happened about 14 kilometres outside Swakopmund, on the B2 main road.
