State of the Nation Address underway

WINDHOEK, 12 APR (NAMPA) - President Hage Geingob is delivering the State of the Nation Address in Parliament.
This is Geingob’s third State of the Nation Address since he was sworn in as President in March 2015.
As per Article 32 (2) of the Namibian Constitution, the Head of State shall annually and during debate of the Appropriation Bill address Parliament on the state of the nation and on future policies of Government.
Geingob will also report on the policies of the previous year and will be available to respond to questions.
The Head of State is also expected to outline the progress on Namibia’s action plan towards prosperity for all, the Harambee Prosperity Plan.
Founding President Sam Nujoma, former President Hifikepunye Pohamba, former Members of Parliament and members of the public, amongst others, are in attendance.
