WINDHOEK, 06 MAR (NAMPA) – The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) and Namibia Scientific Society on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding intended to foster science research and development.
The agreement recognises the importance of science and technology in the development of the national economy and systems of innovation, as well as its contribution to societal advancement.
NCRST Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Eino Mvula said the agreement will amongst others promote research and establish and maintain the Namibian Journal for Research, Science, Technology and Innovation.
It will also promote international collaboration and networking in research science and technology.
“There is high demand for research in Namibia which will help to stimulate the growth and development of research,” he said.
A committee consisting of eight members from both institutions will identify projects for collaboration, draw up of implementation plans and monitor progress.
Namibia Scientific Society CEO Waltraut Fritzsche said the partnership is a great initiative between the private sector and the Namibian government.
