Intoxicated man chops baby's head with axe

WINDHOEK, 05 APR (NAMPA) – An 18-month-old baby died after she was struck in the head with a traditional axe at Neyuva village in the Kavango East Region’s Ndiyona district on Tuesday at about 17h00.
The daily crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force’s Head of Public Relations, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi on Wednesday said the 20-year-old suspect allegedly came home heavily intoxicated and attacked the baby.
The deceased, identified as Christine Wayera, succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the Nyangana State Hospital.
The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Ndiyona Periodical Court on Thursday.
Kanguatjivi said the motive of the incident is still unknown and police investigations continue.
The next of kin have been informed.
In a separate incident, a 68-year-old man was arrested for bestiality after he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a goat at Uis in the Erongo Region on Monday at about 14h30.
Three young boys allegedly discovered the incident while passing by and alerted the goat owner, who informed the police.
The suspect appeared in the Uis Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
