Bergsig men arrested for illegal hunting

OPUWO, 04 APR (NAMPA) - Four men were arrested at Bergsig in the Khorixas Constituency of the Kunene Region on Sunday and charged with illegal hunting.
Crime Investigation Coordinator of the Namibian Police Force in Kunene Region, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu told Nampa on Tuesday that an additional charge of being in possession of cannabis was also laid against the suspects.
According to Kanyetu, a total of 70 ballies of cannabis was found at the house of one of the suspects. The value of the confiscated drugs was not determined.
Kanyetu told this reporter that biltong (dried meat) of an oryx was found hanging at a house of one of the suspects, leading police to investigate.
The police then discovered the cannabis after a search of the house.
The suspects, aged 45, 42, 38 and 23, will appear in the Khorixas Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
