KEETMANSHOOP, 29 MAR (NAMPA) – Insurance company Hollard Namibia has donated 25 single bed mattresses to the value of N.dollars 10 000 to a school hostel recently devastated by fire at Bethanie in the //Kharas Region.
The fire broke out at the hostel of the Roman Catholic Church’s Schmelenville Secondary School at that village two weeks ago.
The blaze was reportedly ignited by an electrical short-circuit.
Three dormitories at the boys’ hostel were gutted, leaving 22 boys with only the clothes on their back.
No one was injured.
The insurance company said in a statement on Monday the incident was made more tragic by the fact that it involved children.
“That is why we wanted to make sure we play our part in the rebuilding of the hostel,” it said.
The mattresses were dispatched to the village last Friday.
