Pupil allegedly raped by her teacher at Tsumkwe

OTJIWARONGO, 18 OCT (NAMPA) – A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teacher at the M’Kata Primary School in the Tsumkwe Constituency in the Otjozondjupa Region on Thursday afternoon.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Police Public Relations’ Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha said the teacher allegedly called the learner into his house.
“Shortly after that, the learner came out crying, and other hostel learners who saw her crying informed the school principal,” Said Mbeha.
The victim told her principal that she was raped by the accused teacher, and he then alerted the police.
The 23-year-old accused teacher’s name is withheld until he appears in court, possibly Monday.
Police investigations continue.
