Baby girl drowns in bucket of water at Ndiyona

RUNDU, 27 MAR (NAMPA) – An 11-month-old baby girl drowned in a bucket of water at Tara-tara in the Ndiyona Constituency on Saturday.
The incident occurred at around 17h00, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Kavango East Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton told Nampa on Monday.
Bampton explained that the mother left the baby sleeping in their hut and went to relieve herself.
On her return she found that her baby had fallen into the bucket of water, which stood next to the bed.
The baby had already died by the time she found her.
The baby has been identified as Nepemba Kapusa.
In an unrelated matter, 39-year-old Martha Mashe died instantly after being struck by lightning at Nyondo village in the Ndiyona Constituency on Sunday.
Bampton said Mashe was standing under a tree when the incident occurred at around 15h00.
Her next of kin have been informed.
