WINDHOEK, 24 MAR (NAMPA) A 30-year-old man died on the spot when he and three others allegedly attempted to rob another of his mobile phone and in the process was stabbed on Thursday.
The incident took place around 16h15 along Service Road in the Okahandja Park informal settlement on the northern outskirts of Windhoek.
City Police Public Relations Officer, Fabian Amukwelele told Nampa on Friday the victim retaliated.
The victim fought back and stabbed the deceased on the left side of his chest, said Amukwelele.
Amukwelele said an eyewitness told police the three other suspects ran away immediately after the deceased was stabbed.
The victim of the attempted robbery was arrested and is expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrates Court on Monday.
Amukwelele said City Police would advise people to avoid fighting back when in such situations, as they are vulnerable and might lose their life or end up in jail.
If you find yourself in such a situation it is better to surrender instead of losing your life over valuable things.
