Man allegedly stabs two-year-old son to death

WINDHOEK, 12 MAR (NAMPA) – A man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his two-year-old son to death at Farm Jonkershoek in the Gobabis area last Monday.
The 21-year-old suspect has been apprehended and is being detained at the Gobabis Police Station.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson Warrant Officer Lazarus Immanuel said at the weekly crime briefing here on Sunday it is not yet known what prompted the man to stab his son.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Gobabis Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Immanuel also reported two suicides.
At Swakopmund, a 42-year-old man shot himself at his workplace on Tuesday.
Sakaria Kalekela locked himself in the bathroom before committing suicide with a pistol.
The deceased was found in a pool of blood with the pistol next to him.
He did not leave behind a suicide note.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy used a hunting rifle to shoot himself in Keetmanshoop.
Rohan Cronje used his grandfather’s rifle in the act committed on Thursday.
Police investigations in all cases are ongoing, Immanuel said.
