Man arrested for attempted murder in Tsumeb

OSHAKATI, 12 MAR (NAMPA) - A Tsumeb man is expected to make his first appearance in court on Monday for attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed someone on Friday.
According to a police report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Oshikoto Region Deputy Crime Investigations Coordinator Edna Nawa on Sunday, the incident occurred at Tsumeb’s Kuvukiland settlement at around 22h00.
It is alleged that the victim, a 24-year-old man, was walking alone when the suspect approached him, swore at him and pushed him.
The suspect, who is known to the victim, then removed a kitchen knife from his pocket and allegedly stabbed the victim once in the neck before fleeing the scene.
The victim managed to walk to the Lombard State Hospital, where he was admitted and is in a stable condition.
The victim’s family members opened a case against the suspect on Saturday.
The suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
