KEETMANSHOOP, 11 MAR (NAMPA) – The Swapo-party star rally held at the J Stephanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop on Saturday was well attended.
Approximately 1 000 people braved the scorching sun and joined in on the dancing and chanting of party slogans.
Addressing the crowds was Swapo Party president Hage Geingob, who said the power of the party lies in the fact that it is deeply rooted in the people.
“This is made evident by today’s excellent crowd, consisting of Namibians from all walks of life… In Swapo, we promote the principles of unity and ‘One Namibia, One Nation’,” he said.
Geingob said it is important for all party members to always display a spirit of unity and to mobilise support in all sectors “to show all Namibians the way to a more prosperous future in the Namibian House.”
He said in this regard, all cadres should revisit the objectives of the party as outlined by the party constitution and rededicate themselves to uniting the people of Namibia, irrespective of race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin into a democratic, vibrant and peace-loving nation.
“In this year of rededication, let us remind ourselves that as far back as 1976, Swapo declared in its policy documents that it would, wage the struggle towards the abolition of all forms of exploitation of man by man and the destructive spirit of individualism and aggrandisement of wealth and power by individuals, groups or classes,” Geingob said.
He went on to say Swapo is “committed to pursuing prosperity devoid of greed.”
“We must stand by our principles, for a principle half compromised is a principle compromised,” Geingob said.
