Sport, Youth and National Service's budget cut by over N$ 100 million

WINDHOEK, 08 MAR (NAMPA) - Nearly N.dollars 385 million has been allocated to the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service in the 2017/18 National Budget, more than N.dollars 100 million less than last year.
Minister of Finance Calle Schlettwein tabled the N.dollars 62.5 billion budget in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service received an allocation of N.dollars 384 963 000, which is N.dollars 106 082 000 less than in the 2016/17 budget, when it was allocated N.dollars 491 045 000 for the three directorates - sport, youth and national service.
The Sport Directorate this year plans to construct, maintain and renovate sport facilities in Eenhana, Katima Mulilo and Rundu at a cost of N.dollars 23 million, while the Youth Directorate plans to spend N.dollars 37.5 million on amongst others constructing multi-purpose youth resource centres in Otjiwarongo, Opuwo and Nkurenkuru.
