Outjo boy drowns in pond

OTJIWARONGO, 06 MAR (NAMPA) - A 10-year-old boy at Outjo in the Kunene Region drowned in a pond around 12h30 Sunday afternoon.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Detective, Chief Inspector Naukalemo Andreas on Monday told Nampa the boy was found behind the Outjo Cemetery.
He was identified as Sharupito Kruger Kayambi.
“The boy drowned while swimming with other children at the pond in town,” Andreas said.
It is alleged the other children had informed their parents after Kayambi failed to come out of the water.
The search was launched immediately and his body was found in the pond by members of the Outjo Police, who teamed up with some community members in the search.
Inquest 03/2017 was opened at the Outjo Police Station.
Police investigations continue.
