OSHAKATI, 05 MAR (NAMPA) - A 23-year-old man in the Tsintsabis District is being investigated after he allegedly abducted and raped a minor on several occasions.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Oshikoto Region Deputy Crime Investigations Coordinator, Edna Nawa disclosed this in a crime report on Saturday, adding the alleged rape had been on-going since December 2016. Nawa said the last incident took place on Friday at Oerwoud farm in the district.
The suspect is accused of intentionally collecting the 14-year-old minor from her parents’ home without their consent, and forcefully having sexual intercourse with her.
The victim then informed her parents about the incidents, who then notified police.
Both the victim and suspect reside on the farm but are not related.
A case of abduction and rape has since been opened at the Tsintsabis Police Station.
The suspect was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
