WINDHOEK, 03 MAR (NAMPA) The Okakarara Trade Fair Society (OTFS) has transferred the Okakarara Annual Trade Fair (OATF) to the Okakarara Town Council with immediate effect.
Speaking at a media conference here during the launch of the 11th edition of the OATF on Friday, OTFS Executive Chairperson Elia Kandjii said the deal is done.
We have made arrangements that the chief executive officer, his staff and some town councillors serve on the board of directors and afford them an opportunity to acquire experience.
Okakarara Town Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ehrnst Katjiku on Thursday confirmed to Nampa the development, saying they are looking forward to running the show.
As of today, we accept the challenge and do take ownership of the OTFS.
He said they are assuming full responsibility in 2018 and until then are to work with the OTFS to gain experience.
The transformation is said to be a strategic move to ensure the projects financial viability for years to come.
Meanwhile, Kandjii said this years event will be bigger and better, as it aims to create a professional business network for trade and function as a promotional platform for small businesses and farmers.
It continues to create a platform for business network and opportunities for small and medium enterprises to grow, while young and emerging farmers capitalise on the event.
The 11th OATF is scheduled for 05 September to 10 September 2017 at the OATF Centre in Okakarara.
A dinner gala is scheduled for 03 August at Chief Riruako VIP Hall, with tickets available as from 30 June 2017.
Various activities are lined up during the fair, including the 2017 Miss Okakarara Trade Fair, horse racing, and a music bash.
Potential participants can contact the Okakarara Town Council or collect application forms at any regional and local authority offices countrywide.
Applications close on 25 August 2017.
