Man, 28, killed on street in Keetmanshoop

KEETMANSHOOP, 09 FEB (NAMPA) – A 28-year-old man died after he was stabbed in the neck in the Ileni informal settlement in Keetmanshoop at around 17h30 on Wednesday afternoon.
Two suspects, aged 26 and 27, were arrested in connection with the matter.
Namibian Police Acting Regional Crime Coordinator for //Kharas, Chief Inspector Coleen Brandt on Thursday identified the deceased as Henry Dirkse.
Brandt said police are yet to determine the circumstances around the death.
“The deceased is well-known in his community as a quiet person who was not troublesome at all,” she said.
Brandt said the deceased was walking from a bar when the two suspects approached him and stabbed him before fleeing.
He died on the scene.
His next of kin were informed of his death.
The suspects, who are also known in the same area, were identified by witnesses and arrested shortly after the incident.
They are expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
