WINDHOEK, 04 FEB (NAMPA) – City Police officers on Friday caught five men red-handed breaking into a tourists’ vehicle parked along Lazarett Street.
Windhoek City Police Chief, Abraham Kanime told Nampa on Saturday officers were performing a random operations patrol in the city centre when they came across the incident.
“The suspects are old offenders on various cases and are most of the time out on bail,” said Kanime.
The suspect’s aged between 21 and 27-years were caught with two bags in their possession that they allegedly stole from different vehicles at Maerua Mall the same day.
Gym clothes and a Virgin Active membership card were found in one of the bags.
Kanime said the suspects allegedly used a dark blue Volkswagen without a front number plate in a different crime after it was released from police custody on Thursday.
He urged the public to be on the lookout for that vehicle as it is allegedly used in criminal activities.
Kanime also warned the public to avoid getting into cars without number plates as they are frequently used for criminal activities.
The suspects are to be charged with being in possession of suspected stolen items when they appear in court on Monday.
