SCC suspends benefit payments for three days

WINDHOEK, 04 FEB (NAMPA) – The Social Security Commission (SSC) temporarily suspended pay-outs for three days due to the major upgrading of the commission’s Information Technology (IT) systems.
There will be no payments for maternity leave, sick leave and death benefits as from 03 February until 07 February countrywide.
SSC Corporate Communications Manager, Unomengi Kauapirurua told Nampa on Friday that an upgrade of the IT systems is necessary, as current infrastructure has been in operation for the past 10 years and has become out-dated.
“The closure is to upgrade the whole computer system, (to one) which will be fast and efficient for our clients,” explained Kauapirurua.
She noted that the commission sent out notifications on Tuesday informing clients to make pre-arrangements before the closure dates.
Those affected did not make arrangement prior to the specified dates, she explained.
However, other services such as membership registration, claim forms, and the facilitation of payment contributions will continue as usual.
The SSC has 10 offices countrywide.
