OTJIWARONGO, 13 OCT (NAMPA) - A 27-year-old man allegedly strangled his girlfriend to death after an argument between them in their house in Luiperdhuwel in Grootfontein on Sunday morning.
According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha, their preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was strangled to death between 03H00 and 04H00 on Sunday.
Mbeha told Nampa on Sunday the accused allegedly kept the lifeless body of the woman for several hours afterwards, and only called the police mid-day on Sunday.
It is also suspected that he attempted suicide by cutting several blood vessels on both his arms.
The deceased has been identified as Ushi Swartz, 28.
Her next of kin are informed of her death, said Mbeha.
“The two have a babygirl together - aged one and a half,” noted Mbeha.
The suspect was arrested, and police investigations continue.
