Angolan babies drown in hippo attack

WINDHOEK, 22 JAN (NAMPA) – Two Angolan babies, travelling with their mothers, drowned Friday in the Okavango River when the canoe they were in capsized during a hippo attack.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Head of Media Relations, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said Sunday that the mothers managed to survive and reach the riverbank safely.
They were travelling from Namibia to Angola.
In a different development, the body of a pensioner was Saturday found floating in a pond at Elombe village in the Oshana Region.
The deceased, who was identified as 89-year-old Nuulimba Lukas, is suspected to have drowned.
Police investigations continue.
