WINDHOEK, 12 OCT (NAMPA) – Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) Secretary for International Affairs, Kandy Nehova on Saturday urged his supporters and sympathisers to conduct a clean lobbying campaign.
He made the appeal immediately after launching his campaign to run for RDP president.
Nehova is the first RDP member to publicly announce his intend to challenge incumbent president Hidipo Hamutenya, who earlier indicated that he has no intention of stepping down.
The launch follows an RDP executive committee decision that all top positions within the party be up for contest.
“Avoid at all cost and at all times smear, slander, labeling and other divisive campaign strategies and tactics,” he requested.
Nehova explained that at the end of the party’s national convention in March 2014 they will all need one another again in order to face the party's political competitors in the presidential and national elections set to take place in the same year.
“Let us campaign as running mates, not as camps. Let us stay away from the mentality of campaigning in camps and create a philosophy of running mates,” he stressed.
