WINDHOEK, 11 JAN (NAMPA) – A 34-year-old man accused of raping his mother a few days after his release from prison was Tuesday denied bail upon his appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court.
The accused, Trevor Pieterse, was Thursday arrested in Windhoek for the alleged attack on his 55-year-old mother on 31 December 2016.
Magistrate Eden Iyambo said it would be inappropriate to grant bail since the suspect lives in the same house as the complainant.
Further charges are to be filed against the suspect with regards to the attack.
Pieterse was released from prison after serving a 15-year jail term for raping a Japanese tourist in 2003 and a teenage girl at Grootfontein the same year after he was released on bail.
The accused is in custody until his next appearance on 23 February 2017.
Prosecutor Rowan van Wyk represented the State in the matter.
