OUTJO, 05 JAN (NAMPA) - Two people died instantly Monday afternoon when a sedan they were travelling in rolled several times some 20 kilometres west of Outjo in the Kunene Region.
The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Lucia Theofelius and a yet-unidentified five-year-old boy.
“Their family members have been informed,” said Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Otjozondjupa Regional Detective Chief Inspector, Naukalemo Andreas.
It is suspected that one of the rear tyres burst, which caused the driver to lose control over the vehicle before it rolled several times.
Andreas told Nampa on Thursday five occupants including the driver were travelling from Okahao in the Omusati Region to Windhoek when the accident occurred.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened against the driver at the Outjo Police Station.
The three other occupants, including the driver, sustained slight injuries and were treated at the Outjo State Hospital.
Police investigations continue.
