Billion dollar fraud suspects in court at 14h00

WINDHOEK, 03 JAN (NAMPA) – Three men charged with fraud, money laundering and tax evasion of N.dollars 3.5 billion are expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday afternoon.
The accused will appear for a formal bail hearing after they were remanded in custody by Magistrate Verinao Kamahere here on Thursday.
The formal bail hearing was supposed to take place on Tuesday morning. However, due to the absence of an interpreter it was re-scheduled to 14h00 the same day.
The suspects, Tao Huizhong 46 and Jinrong Huang, 36, both of Chinese descent but listed on the charge sheet as Namibian citizens, and Julius Laurentius, 47, a native Namibian citizen, were arrested about two weeks ago at Oshikango and Walvis Bay, respectively.
The money was found stashed in a container in Ondangwa.
