Sea worker shoots self at Onekwaya West

ONGWEDIVA, 30 DEC (NAMPA) – Police in the Ohangwena Region on Thursday confirmed the death of Paulus Nafimane Mukete, who allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at the Onekwaya West village last Friday.
Sergeant Abner Kaume Iitumba of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Public Relations Unit in the region told Nampa the deceased died on the spot from a gunshot through the ear.
Mukete, 46, shot himself at around 08h30 with a Zastava pistol (serial no. 268148) in his homestead at the said village.
The reason for the suspected suicide remains unknown as no suicide note was found.
Iitumba said the deceased was living alone at the time.
Mukete was employed as a sea worker in Walvis Bay of the Erongo Region, and was probably on holiday.
His next of kin are informed and the police have opened an inquest docket in connection with this death.
