Three men arrested with pangolin skin granted bail

WINDHOEK, 29 DEC (NAMPA) – Three men found in possession of a pangolin skin on Friday, made their first appearance in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The suspects, Johannes Reinhold, 32; Petrus Iikela; and Amunyela Reinhold, whose ages are not known, were arrested by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) along a Western Bypass bridge in the Northern Industrial Area on Friday.
They allegedly tried to sell the pangolin skin for N.dollars 10 000 to passers-by who were, in fact, police officers on duty.
The charge sheet states the trio was charged with possession of game meat.
They appeared before Magistrate Peingondjabi Shipo, while Prosecutor Allen Shipena represented the State.
The suspects were each granted bail of N.dollars 1 000 and are expected to appear in court on 22 March 2017.
