PDK to do countdown into 2017

27 Dec 2016 13:50pm
WINDHOEK, 27 DEC (NAMPA) – Local Kwaito trio ‘PDK’ will do the countdown into the year 2017 during the City of Windhoek (CoW) New Year’s bash on Saturday.
CoW Acting Manager for Corporate Communications, Grace Pujatura told Nampa on Tuesday the City partnered with Namibia Breweries’ Tafel Lager brand to welcome 2017 in “style”.
The music show will start at 18h00 till midnight at the municipal parking area along Independence Avenue between Sam Nujoma Drive and Garten Street.
Other artists are Adora, Lady May, Wild Dogs, Stanley, Jaleen and George Derula.
The event will be streamed live on local television by the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.
“This year is more straightforward. We are bringing the party to the people, nothing more,” Pujatura said.
People will not be allowed to enter the premises with their own drinks because there will be a bar on site as well as food stalls.
Without revealing too much, she said this year’s fireworks display will be different from what was done before. Fireworks usually accompany the countdown.
The public should be informed that security will be tight, as both City Police and Namibian Police Force officers will execute patrols to ensure the safety of people.
People should not carry weapons or their own fireworks to the bash; “it is absolutely prohibited,” Pujatura warned.
Entrance is free.
