Woman hit, killed by car in Omaheke

GOBABIS, 27 DEC (NAMPA) – A 41-year-old woman died when a car ran her over on the main road of Aminuis near the local police station in the Omaheke Region on Friday.
Namibian Police Force Deputy Commissioner in Omaheke, Marcellus Maritshane told Nampa on Friday that Mercia Olibile died on the spot.
No one saw the incident happening but it is suspected that Maritshane was walking from the direction of the government offices when she was hit by the car.
The driver fled the scene and is still at large.
The woman’s body was discovered by a member of the public early that morning.
The vehicle that was involved in the accident is also unknown.
Police investigations continue.
