Angolan man dies in hit-and-run at Omuthiya

WINDHOEK, 26 DEC (NAMPA) - A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run accident on the Omuthiya-Ondangwa road on Monday.
A police report provided by Oshikoto Deputy Regional Crime Coordinator, Chief Inspector Edna Nawa on Monday indicates that the incident occurred at Okapuku at about 00h40.
It is alleged that the sedan hit the pedestrian who was walking on the road. He died instantly.
The unidentified driver then drove away.
The deceased was identified as an Angolan national from the Okapuku village. His next of kin have not yet been informed.
Police investigations continue.
In an unrelated matter, six people survived a tyre-burst accident between Namutoni and Halali in the Etosha National Park on Sunday at about 11h30.
The driver and passengers, including a 12-month-old baby, sustained serious injuries and were admitted at the Tsumeb State Hospital. All are Tsumeb residents.
Police investigations continue.
