SWAKOPMUND, 26 DEC (NAMPA) – A Swakopmund mother spent Christmas in agony because her toddler son was allegedly kidnaped by a close friend on Wednesday.
Ndahafa Namweya, 25, told Nampa via phone on Monday that the suspect, whom she referred to as her friend, disappeared with her one-year-and 11-month-old son, Miguel Ndakula Hinaunye Aluvilu.
“I do not know what her motive is; I am shocked that she took my only son,” Namweya said crying.
She said on that day at about 11h00, the suspect, who is also in her twenties, came to their house in Mondesa and asked for permission to take the boy so she can spend time with him at her house.
Namweya said she allowed the friend to take Aluvilu, like she usually did, but the friend never returned the boy.
She suspects that the kidnapper and her boyfriend fled with her son to the Omusati Region or Angola.
Namweya, who is pregnant again, said this friend has three children and does not understand why she took her only child.
Detective Chief Inspector Erastus Iikuyu of the Namibian Police Force at the coast confirmed that the mother laid a charge of kidnapping.
“We cannot reveal much at this moment as we are investigating,” Iikuyu said.
