OSHAKATI, 22 DEC (NAMPA) - Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo will have to defend his two world titles within four months.
Indongo won the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) belts earlier this month against Russia’s Eduard Troyanovsky in Moscow.
He did so in just 40 seconds of their scheduled 12-round bout. Indongo is the first Namibian boxer to hold two international titles at once.
His promoter Nestor Tobias on Thursday said Indongo is expected to defend the titles by 03 April 2017. His challenger has to be in the top 15 world ranking on the IBF or IBO.
“All of us are now in Christmas celebration mood, and it is only after Christmas when we will make a big announcement on when to defend these titles,” said Tobias during a tour to show off the belts to people in the Oshana Region, where Indongo hails from.
Tobias noted that the title defence can take place at home but only if the public or private sector avails necessary resources to host such an international boxing event.
Indongo will celebrate his achievement during a gathering on Saturday at the homestead of his mother, Namutenya Johannes, at the Oikango village near Ongwediva.
