WINDHOEK, 22 DEC (NAMPA) Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, John Mutorwa has announced the appointment of new board members for Swakara with effect from 01 January 2017.
In a media statement issued Wednesday, the minister said the new board will be chaired by Julene Meyer.
She will be deputised by Johannes Slava Motinga, who will also be the representative of karakul pelts and wool producers.
Other board members are Pieter Hugo as an alternative member, followed by Johannes Kohlman and Chris Baisako.
Arnold Klein will be the representative of persons engaged in the marketing of karakul pelts.
Mutorwa expressed his confidence and trust in the ability, commitment and fitness of the new Swakara board members to execute their national duties.
I take this opportunity to express my renewed confidence and trust in the ability, commitment and fairness with which the Swakara board members will be expected to discharge their duties and responsibilities both individually and collectively.
The new board will function until 31 December 2020.
The minister also announced the re-appointment of directors for the Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco) for a period of six months with effect 04 January 2017.
The temporary board will be chaired by Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun, who will be deputised by Ronald Kubas, the managing director of engineering company Burmeister and Partners.
Other members include Sophia Kasheeta, the deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry; Ismael Itamunua Ngangane, Fanie Oosthuizen and the Executive Director of the Namibia National Farmers Union (NNFU), Mushokobanji Mwilima.
The minister expressed confidence in the team and informed the board members that he expects them to discharge their national duties and legal responsibility both individually and collectively.
