OPUWO, 22 DEC (NAMPA) – Three children on Tuesday drowned in a pond at Omao village in the Opuwo rural Constituency.
Namibia Police Force (NamPol) acting regional crime investigation coordinator, Detective Chief Inspector, Paavo Iiyambo told Nampa Wednesday the bodies of the two girls and one boy were discovered Wednesday morning after they went missing around 15h00 the previous day.
Community members followed traces and ended at a pond in the field.
“The clothes of one of the children were found at the pond and while the people were still looking at where the traces could lead them to, one of the bodies was seen floating,” said Iiyambo.
NamPol was informed and responded, which lead to the discovery of the other bodies.
Iiyambo advised parents to know where their children are because some villages in the region have dangerous places where children cannot be left alone.
